Earlier this week, accompanied by Colin, we found a female barn owl in a nest box in rural Lincolnshire with nine chicks. They ranged from 3 days to 3 weeks.Later that day we trapped another female at the nest and she weighed 505 grammes, an unusually high weight.Quite a lot of birds are now on eggs. Some will be second broods, some re-lays and some first timers. The fun is in spotting which category each clutch/brood comes under.
